Answers to common questions about Bowl Speed.

How do I measure my bowling speed?

Tap Import Video on the home screen and select a bowling video from your camera roll. The video will start playing. Tap Set Release Point when the ball leaves the bowler's hand, then tap Set Impact Point when the ball first hits the pitch. Tap Calculate to get your speed.

How accurate are the speed readings?

Speed readings are estimates based on video frame analysis using the formula: speed = distance divided by time. Accuracy depends on your video frame rate (higher is better), the accuracy of your frame selection, and the pitch distance entered. For best results use a slow motion video recorded at 60fps or higher.

What is the default pitch distance?

The default pitch distance is 20.12 metres, which is the standard popping crease to popping crease distance in cricket. You can change this in the Settings tab or directly on the Measure screen for each measurement.

What video format should I use?

The app supports any video format in your iOS camera roll including MOV and MP4. For best results use a slow motion video recorded at 60fps or 120fps. The higher the frame rate the more precise your frame selection can be.

How do I set the release and impact frames accurately?

Play the video and pause it when you see the ball leaving the bowler's hand. Tap Set Release Point. Then play forward and pause when the ball first contacts the pitch. Tap Set Impact Point. Use the previous and next frame buttons for precise one-frame adjustments. Wait 1-2 seconds after setting each point to allow the frame to process correctly.

What do the speed classifications mean?

Express Pacer: 145+ km/h. Fast: 135-145 km/h. Fast-Medium: 125-135 km/h. Medium-Fast: 115-125 km/h. Medium: 100-115 km/h. Spin: under 100 km/h.

How do I add multiple bowlers?

Go to the Profiles tab and tap the Add button in the top right. Enter the bowler's name and select their bowling style. Each profile maintains its own speed history and personal best.

How do I delete a measurement or profile?

Swipe left on any measurement in the History tab or any profile in the Profiles tab to reveal the Delete button.

How do I share my speed result?

After a measurement tap the Share button on the Result screen. This generates a speed card with your name, speed, classification badge and date that you can share via any app.

Does the app work offline?

Yes — all speed calculations and data storage happen on device. No internet connection is needed. An internet connection is only required to load advertisements.
